Architect’s Home with Chinese Art
This architect and his wife lived in the Far East for many years and, to my great delight, brought back with them an antique painting and a few pieces of furniture. To mimic Chinese lacquer, I asked the painter to paint the entry door and the cap of the half-wall in a high-gloss black — very few painters can do this to perfection. The dining room had a Chinese silk rug and a painting, which we highlighted with a deep blue-lavender accent wall. Ample natural and artificial light came in through several windows; we changed the casing color of the windows to let the eye travel out and see the beautiful garden. All colors used were full-spectrum colors from Benjamin Moore’s Color Stories collection. In this modern house’s construction, there were many different angles in the ceiling; we softened those angles by applying the same color as the walls to the ceiling.
